Hi Product Hunt! I am Irakli, and I have lived with type 1 diabetes for over 12 years. I got my first CGM back in 2016, the original FreeStyle Libre, after researching it myself because almost nobody around me knew CGM existed.
Sugar Sense started with a personal problem: there were nights when one alarm did not wake me. I wanted a second, independent layer of alerts, and I wanted my family to be able to see that I am okay without calling me. Our small team built exactly that, and it grew into a full CGM companion platform.
What it does:
- Our servers read your existing CGM (FreeStyle Libre, Dexcom or Nightscout) around the clock, about every 5 minutes, and push readings and alerts to your devices, so alerts arrive even while the phone sleeps.
- Your glucose lives on every screen you own: iPhone, Android, Apple Watch, the lock screen, CarPlay, a web dashboard, a Windows tray app, the Mac menu bar, a browser extension in all four stores, and Alexa.
- Care Circle: parents and partners follow the live number and get the same alerts, free.
- A predictive alert warns about 20 minutes before a forecast low, and urgent alerts can break through Silent and Focus (Apple approved critical alerts).
- The whole product ships in six languages: English, Georgian, German, French, Spanish and Dutch.
- The safety net is free forever. We never paywall monitoring, alerts or family following. Premium covers comfort extras like the Apple Watch app, AI Insights and the AI food scanner.
Two principles we will not break: the app is dose-free (it never suggests insulin doses, anywhere), and stale data never pretends to be fresh (after 15 minutes every surface shows No Data instead of an old number; we published that display logic as open source).
Honest note: Sugar Sense is not a medical device. It is a supplemental layer next to your CGM vendor's own app, and it should never be the only way you catch a low.
