Hey Product Hunt!
I originally built StudyChime for me and my girlfriend because we both use Prolific and wanted a better way to know when new studies appeared without constantly watching the studies page.
The main problem I wanted to solve was getting alerts wherever I was. I wanted a study to appear on my laptop and quickly receive a notification on my phone through something I already use, like Discord or Telegram.
Privacy became a big part of the project too. Rather than routing study alerts through an external notification service, I built StudyChime so alerts are sent directly from your browser to Discord, Telegram or Pushover.
What started as a simple notifier gradually grew as we used it. I added filters for reward, hourly rate and study length, then added profiles and schedules, custom sounds, local study trends and milestones.
I wanted to make sure StudyChime wasn’t a bot that could take actions for you. It doesn’t auto-refresh, auto-accept or reserve studies. It watches the studies page you have open and lets you decide what to do with the alert.
After using it for a few months, I decided to polish it up and turn it into something other Prolific users could use too.
This is the first product I’ve launched, so I’d love to hear what you think, what you’d change, what notification services you’d like to see next, or anything that could make StudyChime more useful!
