I've spent over 10 years as a Kx consultant - across banks, hedge funds, pharma companies, and tech firms on four continents. The project timeline slips. The client or stakeholder gets frustrated.
The training problem was always the same: knowledge sat in senior employees' heads, onboarding was ad-hoc, and there was no way to know whether someone was actually ready to contribute. I managed and mentored junior staff directly. I eventually built and delivered formal training programmes covering everything from highly technical programming to HR and finance compliance. That experience made the gap obvious.
