Most free position size calculators are built for stocks and quietly
break everywhere else.
Size an E-mini S&P trade as if a point were a dollar and you've
understated your risk by 50x — you find out when the stop gets hit.
Forex calculators ask for your leverage, which doesn't change the
answer. Crypto ones round a real 0.025 BTC position down to "0.00".
So StopSize does each market's maths properly:
• Forex — type your stop in pips or as a price, get standard/mini/micro
lots and what each pip is actually worth to you
• Futures — real CME tick sizes and values for ES, NQ, MES, CL and
others. If the answer is less than one contract it tells you the trade
doesn't fit your account, instead of rounding up
• Crypto — precision down to satoshis, so a real position never shows
as zero
• Stocks — the easy case
There's also a trading journal that works out your real win rate,
average R, profit factor and max drawdown. It stores everything in your
browser — no account, no database, nothing uploaded. That was
deliberate: it should work on the first visit without a sign-up wall.
All of it is free.
Two things I'd genuinely like feedback on:
1. Is the futures contract list missing something you trade?
2. Is a journal useful without sync across devices, or is that a
dealbreaker?
