Most screen time apps focus on restriction. StoicLock focuses on awareness before action. Instead of simply blocking apps, StoicLock creates a small moment of friction before unlocking distractions. Users read a short quote and pause intentionally before continuing. Rather than punishing phone usage, StoicLock helps people build discipline and a healthier relationship with attention through mindful design, focus modes, screen time insights, and native iOS integration.
I’m really excited and honestly a little nervous to launch StoicLock.
This started from something personal.
I’ve always loved reading quotes, philosophy, and ideas around mindset. Some of them genuinely changed how I think, and I wanted to share those ideas with others, so I started creating content around mindset and personal growth.
But I noticed something strange, I was spending more time consuming content than actually creating it.
My screen time slowly became 11–12 hours a day. I kept opening Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube over and over again without even realizing it.
At some point, I realized I wasn’t intentionally choosing these apps anymore, it had become automatic.
That made me wonder: “What if the quotes that genuinely helped me could create small moments of awareness in daily life?”
That idea eventually became StoicLock.
Instead of simply blocking apps, StoicLock creates a small pause before unlocking distracting apps, helping people become more mindful about how they use their attention.
I designed and built everything myself while learning along the way so this launch means a lot to me.
