SteamTools.games
Generate SteamTools manifests and Lua files from App ID
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
We built SteamTools.games to make a frustrating SteamTools workflow simple.
If you use SteamTools, you may have had to search through Discord messages, outdated file shares, link shorteners, or questionable download pages just to find the right manifest and Lua files for a game.
SteamTools.games gives you a cleaner path:
• Search by game name or paste a Steam App ID
• Look up public Steam storefront metadata live
• Generate the matching manifest + Lua pair
• Get direct downloads without signups, shorteners, or pop-ups
• Use the files with the standard SteamTools desktop-client workflow
For example, enter Portal’s App ID (400), generate the files, place them in your SteamTools install root, and restart the client.
We also maintain an open data project, ManifestHub3, behind the generator, and we’re building game pages, install guides, changelogs, and troubleshooting docs around the ecosystem.
It’s free to use. No account, no API key, no email gate.
We’d love feedback on:
1. Which SteamTools workflows are still too manual?
2. What files, formats, or validations should we support next?
3. Would bulk lookup/export or a public API be useful for you?
Thanks for checking it out!
