squashImage
Image compression that measures if it's actually safe + API
SquashImage compresses JPEG, PNG, and WebP images by measuring real visual similarity (SSIM) instead of using a flat quality setting. Basically it only compresses as much as each image can actually tolerate. Free for single images, Pro unlocks batch upload and API access.
I'm a solo dev and I built SquashImage. Most compressors use one fixed quality setting for every image. I built this to instead measure actual visual similarity (SSIM) and stop compressing right when it would start looking worse, so it adapts per image instead of guessing. I also made it a point to create something concise and simple. Easy on the eyes as some would say.
Happy to answer anything, how it works, what's next, or just what you think/tips. Thanks for checking it out 🙏

Who hunted squashImage?
squashImage was hunted by Christian. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
