Most recipe apps start from a recipe and send you shopping. Spud works the other way around, starts from what you already own. Add what's in your fridge, and Spud shows you what you can cook tonight, ranked by how many ingredients you already have. 100% matches first, near-matches show exactly what you're missing. Plan your week by adding matched recipes to each day, and Spud generates a shopping list for only the gaps — so your next grocery run is smaller, cheaper, and nothing gets wasted.

Hey Product Hunt I'm the developer behind Spud, this is actually my first ever app so launching here feels like a big deal. The idea came from a frustration I had constantly — opening the fridge at 6pm, seeing a bunch of random ingredients, having no idea what to cook, and defaulting to takeout. Every recipe app I tried started from a recipe and sent me shopping. Nobody was solving it from the other direction. So I built Spud. You tell it what you have, it tells you what to make. Would love any feedback — brutal honesty welcome. And happy to answer any questions about the build or the journey. It's been quite a ride for a first app.

Who hunted Spud?

Spud was hunted by Jacob C. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
