Why another expense tracking/budgeting app?
I ditched spreadsheets because logging expenses was such a pain. Here's what goes down these days:
Sometimes, I'll go all out and dump a bunch of transactions into the spreadsheet. It means rounding up all my receipts, digital and paper, and throwing them into the mix.
But, let's be real, other times? I'm just like, 'Nah, not this month,' and give the whole expense tracking thing a pass.
Not a good adulting move 🥲
I gave a shot to a bunch of apps, but man, getting started was like a whole mission. Either there's a steep learning curve, or they want me to connect my bank accounts which aren't even supported (I'm in a 3rd world country), or manual entry isn't intuitive. Always some kinda roadblock.
All I wanted was a simple app to log my expenses on the fly and check out spending or budget reports when I feel like it 🙁. But if I stumble upon an app that's easy to pick up, it's either clunky or drowning in ads and features I don't care about 😞.
I'm just after a light, modern-looking app that's easy to use, no ads in sight, works offline so I can track stuff on the go, and can sync up on all my devices when I'm back online.
The goal was to make the most basic MVP over a weekend, but I got too excited and kept adding new stuff. In the spirit of building in public and launching to get feedback, finally - here is Spendid 😄
Of course, I have many more plans for the app, like **gamification to help others get in the habit of tracking their expenses and be more conscious of their spending**…
But I’m also excited to hear what you guys think of it so far. It's really important for me because I'm a solo dev and your support helps a lot.
