As someone who works with maps and geospatial data, I always found traditional geoportals incredibly frustrating. They are often slow, heavy, hidden behind complex institutional walls, or cluttered with outdated interfaces. Whenever I just needed a quick GeoJSON or a Shapefile to build a project or run an analysis.
I wanted to change that. I envisioned a clean, fast, and modern space where anyone could jump in, visually preview geospatial layers instantly on an interactive web map, and download what they need in a couple of clicks.
SpatialBase is built to be powered by the community. It’s an open hub where you can not only find curated datasets but also upload and share your own spatial data with the world.
