Heyo 😃 As the creator of Sparrow, I’m thrilled to share my first menubar app. I've always been fascinated by the native functionality of the macOS menubar, and I wanted to explore its capabilities in a unique way. While developing Sparrow, my primary goal was to create something that was simple and convenient, as well as visually stunning. To achieve this, I utilized color gradients that correspond to the hourly temperature - a small detail, but one that adds a beautiful, eye-catching aesthetic and makes checking the weather a more engaging experience. I also created several themes based on popular birds, such as Blue Jay, Parrot, Snow Owl, and Raven. Developing this app has been an interesting journey in Swift code powered by OpenWeatherMaps API, and I'm excited to hear your thoughts and feedback! Enjoy checking the weather with Sparrow 🪶

Who hunted Sparrow?

Sparrow was hunted by Curtis Thornton. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
