I built Soundstellation because I kept following music sideways. You start with a band; you find a member's other group, then a label, then a place, then the person who produced both — and pretty soon you're twenty tabs deep, staring at discographies and database pages that can name every fact and still can't show you the shape. The problem is not a shortage of music data; there's plenty. The problem is that relationships are hard to follow without flattening them into one tidy, definitive story — and the real story of a scene is rarely tidy. Soundstellation turns documented connections between artists, groups, scenes, and places into constellations you can actually explore. It shows you what holds a connection up; and it's honest about what isn't documented yet, rather than papering over the gaps. That honesty is why the human loop matters. Sources establish what can be documented. Human curators make thoughtful paths through that material. Reviewers will be able to challenge the gaps, add context, and improve the map. The goal is not to let an algorithm stand up and declare the final word on a scene — I've spent enough time around music to know nobody gets the final word. The goal is to make the evidence visible, invite informed perspective, and leave room for people to disagree. By the way, I built this end to end with a lot of help from different flavors of GPT-5.6; the human rule stayed simple the whole way through. Every tree is a starting point, not the whole map.
