Sonora
A local-first music player with synced karaoke lyrics
Sonora is a local-first music player. Point it at your music folders and it builds a library (albums, artists, playlists, favorites) in a local database. It automatically fetches time-synced lyrics for karaoke-style playback, and can optionally enrich your library with artist bios, images and lyrics from Genius using your own API key. A built-in tag editor lets you fix metadata and cover art in place. Cross-platform (Windows, Linux, Android), fully open source under AGPL-3.0.
I built Sonora because I wanted a simple, modern and local music player - just point it at a folder of MP3s and it organizes everything into albums, artists and playlists.
What started as "I just want lyrics" turned into automatic synced lyrics, and later an optional Genius integration to fill in missing artist info and metadata during a scan. I also added a built-in tag editor so I didn't need a separate tool to fix titles/covers.
It's still in beta. Windows builds are the most polished, Linux/Android are build-from-source for now. Would love feedback, bug reports, and feature ideas!

Who hunted Sonora?
Sonora was hunted by Eli Aqula. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
