SongKeyPad
Local Windows tool that finds BPM, key and chord changes.
SongKeyPad combines BPM, musical key and timestamped chord detection in one private Windows app. Unlike web-first tools, analysis happens entirely on your PC—no uploads, accounts, networking or in-app analytics. Its editable chord timeline lets you correct results, adjust boundaries and export to text, CSV or JSON. It also supports microphone analysis for quickly checking live passages. And, it adapts its theme to the music! Cute.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built SongKeyPad because I wanted a quick way to identify BPM, musical key and chord changes without uploading unreleased music or private recordings.
SongKeyPad runs entirely on Windows 10/11 and provides:
- BPM and musical-key detection
- An editable, timestamped chord timeline
- Microphone analysis for live passages
- Text, CSV and JSON exports
- No accounts, networking or in-app analytics
It’s designed to give musicians, producers and DJs a useful starting point—not replace their ears. Complex results can be corrected directly in the timeline.
I’d especially love feedback on the chord-timeline workflow and which export options you would find most useful.

Thanks for checking it out!
Runs smooth on my laptop and the local-only analysis is exactly what I was hoping for. The editable chord timeline saved me when one section was slightly off.
Love the offline-first approach and the theme adapting to the music is such a nice touch. One thing that would really help me: drag-and-drop reordering of chord blocks in the timeline, or at least keyboard shortcuts to nudge a boundary left/right by a beat, since fine-tuning edits with the mouse gets tedious on longer progressions.
Honestly this looks pretty solid, especially the local-only angle. One thing though, it would be really helpful if the chord timeline could snap to beats or downbeats when you drag boundaries, so manual corrections line up tighter with the actual groove. That would save a lot of fiddling.
