Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Corey, the maker of SnapDash.
Every scavenger hunt I've played ran on the honor system, and it always ended with someone arguing about whether "that counts." I wanted the phone to be the judge instead of a person.
Here's how a round works: five secret items drop on everyone's screen at the same moment (a coffee mug, a stuffed animal, a basketball). The countdown hits zero and everyone bolts. Point your camera at what you find and you get a verdict in about a second.
The part I'm proudest of: every photo is checked by machine learning running entirely on the phone. Nothing gets uploaded, it works offline, and there's no server cost per snap. Holding up a picture of the item on another screen gets caught.
A few things changed while building it:
• It outgrew the living room. It started as household items only. Now there are 19 worlds and 300+ real things, from the beach to the grocery aisle to the back seat on a road trip.
• Near-misses used to just say no. Now you get a "so close, get closer" nudge, which turned out to matter a lot for kids.
• Items stay face-down until the clock is already running, so nobody can line things up on the table ahead of time.
Modes: live 1v1 ranked (Rookie to Legend), Party with a 6-letter room code, pass-and-play Family mode with picture-first targets for early readers, a shared daily hunt, and solo Dash Runs.
It's free on iOS. Nine worlds are free and the rest are optional packs. Photos never leave your phone, and the under-13 gate turns off ads and purchases completely.
