Smartrazor is a tool to help talking head style YouTubers edit their videos way faster, by automating the process of clipping A-roll (and B-roll in the future!).
Hey Product Hunt, my name is Yuki!
Antioch (one of my best friends from HS) and I built Smartrazor, to help YouTubers edit their talking head style videos way faster.
We built this tool so YouTubers can spend time telling great stories & making awesome content instead of doing repetitive & tedious video editing tasks.
Since I was in 4th grade, I’ve been obsessed with YouTube.
In 6th grade I made my first video. In college, I started to upload relatively consistently.
But what I always found frustrating was the time it took to edit videos.
There were many Friday nights where I was hunched over Final Cut Pro in my dorm while my friends were out having fun.
By senior year, I lost my passion for making YouTube videos, but it introduced me to a problem I could solve.
To further validate this was a problem worth tackling, I web scraped ~1000 complaints on YouTube reddit subs. And I found that about 20% of the comments were related to the hassle of editing (the #2 most cited complaint, right after burnout).
So, we made Smartrazor to solve it.
Upload your raw A-roll & (in the future) B-roll, and Smartrazor outputs a cohesive, first pass edited video.
You can then make final touches of this first pass edit in your preferred video editor (e.g. adding text, animations, key frames, etc.).
In spirit of launching early (and while embarrassed), we are launching our MVP today, which only accommodates the A-roll editor.

@yukioyama most of the people stop from posting on youtube thinking about long hours spent on editing, this is great for them, congratulations!
I needed a tool just like this to edit my YouTube videos! But you lost me as a customer 👎 First, I have to jump through hoops and provide my email just to try the app out. Why? This creates a barrier. Let people experiment with one video wothout having to sign up, and THEN have them choose whether it's right for them.
Secondly, and more importantly, after getting my verification code and entering it into the placeholder box, both the VERIFY & SEND ANOTHER EMAIL buttons are frozen. Clicking them does nothing.
Makers, ensure that your products actually WORK before raving about them online.
Hey Yuki, you have a great story and I appreciate that you are launching early even while "embarassed" about the tech, but I can see where you want to head with this sort of tool.
I have seen other such tools, which use text editing to edit video and am curious if you have also sought out these tools and what you learned from them, if anything?
