I built Smart Home Cinema after getting tired of how awkward movie control still feels on a Windows PC connected to a TV.
The movies themselves were local, the player worked, and the setup was fine — but the experience around playback kept breaking immersion. Pause, subtitles, next movie, end of session, even small actions kept pulling me back to the keyboard and mouse, especially when watching from bed.
So instead of building another media platform, I focused on a simpler goal: making local movie playback on Windows fully hands-free from start to finish.
What makes Smart Home Cinema different is that it’s not just a voice layer on top of a player. Under the surface, it coordinates playback behavior for VLC and PotPlayer, subtitle actions, navigation commands, playback flow, and session-ending actions so you can watch a full movie — or even a full movie session — without touching the keyboard or mouse.
Offline. Private. Fully Automated.
