Hey Product Hunt 👋
I’m Eduard, the maker of SlowDwn.
How this started
I noticed a pattern I hated. I’d be programming — then YouTube would be open “for one thing,” and suddenly I was three videos deep. On my phone it was worse: YouTube before sleep, Reddit first thing after waking. Useless time, every day. I got pissed at myself, tried the usual fixes (Screen Time, blockers, willpower), and quit all of them within weeks.
The real problem
It wasn’t that I needed zero YouTube or Reddit forever. I needed to stop sliding into the next video / next post on autopilot — especially when I was supposed to be building, or supposed to be sleeping.
Hard blockers failed me for the same reason they fail a lot of people: the moment you actually need the app (or just feel trapped), you override or uninstall. Then you’re back where you started.
What SlowDwn became
Instead of locking myself out, I built intentional friction: a short golden window, then pauses and slowdowns that interrupt the “just one more” loop — so you get a chance to choose, not get pulled under.
Would love to hear your version of this. What’s the app that still wins when you’re tired or mid-flow? Ask me anything — I’m here.
