Sloppy
Catch AI coding agents' PHP mistakes before code review.
Sloppy is an open-source PHP code-quality tool that catches swallowed exceptions, placeholder implementations, weakened tests, N+1 queries, and other risky patterns. It integrates with AI coding agents to detect problems introduced by each edit, and also works as a standalone CLI and CI check.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I built Sloppy because I noticed something while working with AI coding agents: they can produce a lot of code very quickly, but they can also repeat the same small mistakes just as quickly.
A swallowed exception here. A 200-line controller there. An N+1 query. A test weakened until it passes. A placeholder implementation that looks finished.
By the time these show up in code review, there can be dozens of them.
So I wanted a tool that could catch these problems **while the agent is still working**, not after the task is finished.
Sloppy runs after an agent edits PHP and focuses on what that edit introduced. The goal isn't to decide whether code was written by AI — it's to catch objectively questionable patterns regardless of who wrote them.
It's open source, MIT licensed, and works as a standalone CLI too.
I'd love to hear from other developers working with AI coding agents:
**What's the worst shortcut you've seen an AI agent take in a real codebase?**
And if you try Sloppy, please tell me what it gets wrong. I genuinely treat false positives as bugs. 🚀

Who hunted Sloppy?
Sloppy was hunted by Rati Rukhadze. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
