Have you ever slept a full 8 hours and still woken up groggy, while 6 hours sometimes leaves you feeling fresh? A big reason is when your alarm goes off. Waking up in the middle of a deep sleep cycle feels terrible. Waking at the end of a cycle feels much easier.
We wanted a simple way to plan sleep around those cycles without installing another tracking app. The first version only worked backwards from your wake-up time. While building it, we added the reverse (“I’m going to bed now”), plus settings for how long you take to fall asleep, cycle length and age group, since sleep needs change with age. People also kept asking about naps and catching up on lost sleep. So we added a power-nap timer and a 7-night sleep debt tracker.
