Hi Product Hunt! We're the team behind Skouta 👋
We built this app because we kept getting fire alerts we couldn't understand. The local, official app that sent them had no English version, and we couldn't even copy the text to translate it ourselves. We ended up retyping each alert by hand into Google Translate just to find out if we needed to worry.
Skouta translates official Swedish alerts from the police, fire department, traffic authorities, weather institute and more into English in real time. It pulls every alert type into one app instead of you juggling several government sources, and works for you whether or not you speak Swedish.
What it does:
* Translates alerts from official sources as they come in
* Displays them on an interactive map of the entire country, so you can be both hyperlocal and exploratory
* Sends push notifications for critical alerts (default) and any other alerts you activate
* Sends a Daily Digest so you don't miss what happened overnight
* Works in English and Swedish
Skouta is currently available on iOS, with an Android launch expected in the very near future.
