Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I’m Sean, the solo maker behind Skillmark.
I’ve imagined some version of this app for more than a decade. I would put hours into practicing art, music, or another hobby, but still struggle to see how those individual sessions were contributing to meaningful progress.
Most habit trackers felt too binary, either I did something that day or I didn’t. Traditional time trackers felt designed for work and billing. I wanted something built around the longer journey of developing a skill.
Skillmark lets you organize a skill into its relevant subskills, set long-term practice goals, plan focused sessions, and track your work with a Pomodoro timer, stopwatch, or manual entry. Your practice becomes visible through mastery levels, forecasts, streaks, history, and subskill balance.
This is my first app, and I built it over six months as a team of one. I used Codex and Claude as development partners to help turn my product requirements and UI direction into working features. I also created custom assets, tested the app with users, incorporated their feedback, and used Skillmark myself throughout development.
It wasn’t a one-prompt-and-ship process. The app evolved through a continuous loop of using it, noticing friction, making decisions, and testing whether the next version was genuinely better.
Skillmark is available now for Android, with iOS planned next. It’s the foundation of the app I’ve wanted personally for years, and I’m excited to keep refining it.
