SimpleNotation is a free browser-based editor for guitar tab and standard notation, side by side. Edit either view and the other updates. Type fast with keyboard shortcuts and a Ctrl+K command search, hear it with built-in playback (tempo, loop, swing), transpose with correct spelling, and add bends, slides, hammer-ons and more. Imports Guitar Pro, MusicXML and MIDI; exports PDF (no watermark), Guitar Pro, MIDI, MP3 and more. No account needed, unlimited scores.
Hey Product Hunt!
SimpleNotation started as a personal fix: I was learning from YouTube guitar lessons and wanted a quick way to turn my scribbled notes into clean, readable tab. Existing tools were either paid desktop apps or slow to enter notes with, so I built the editor I wanted.
What makes it different:
- Tab and standard notation stay linked, so editing one updates the other
- Keyboard-first entry (plus Ctrl+K command search) so you can type music about as fast as you think
- Real playback with looping, count-in and tempo changes, plus fretboard and piano views
- Imports Guitar Pro, MusicXML and MIDI, exports PDF, Guitar Pro, MIDI, MP3 and more
- Free, no watermark, unlimited scores, and no account needed to start
I'd love your feedback, especially on the note-entry workflow and which instruments or techniques you'd like to see next. Thanks for checking it out!
