Shuki is a Pomodoro timer for the macOS menu bar. No stats, no charts, no cycle history — nothing extra to pull you away from the work you actually want to do. Handcrafted sounds, custom focus and recharge lengths, and only the notifications you want. Launch at login and it stays in the menu bar. Named after Japanese 周期 (shūki), meaning cycle. Free on the Mac App Store.
Inspired by a few well-known makers on X, including Pieter Levels, Marc Lou, and Jack Friks, I decided to pivot from web development to building my own apps.
The first result is one I’m very proud of, even if it might not look like much at first glance.
Most Pomodoro apps that are supposed to help you focus secretly distract you with statistics, streaks, and branding.
That’s why I launched my first macOS app, Shuki. It’s completely free.
It blends in with your MacBook, stays lightweight in the menu bar, has handcrafted sounds, and lets you personalize what actually matters: the timer that helps you focus. No stats, no dashboards, no noise.
