Every blocker dies the second you click "disable." Shroudify makes you sit out a cooldown you chose in advance before it will let you quit — so the decision you made while focused outlasts the impulse to undo it. One extension kills YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels and the TikTok feed, blurs thumbnails so nothing catches your eye, and builds a streak calendar you won't want to break. No account. No servers. No analytics. 0 bytes leave your machine.

I've installed more focus blockers than I can count. Every one of them worked for about three days, and then I'd hit disable in a weak moment and never turn it back on. The problem was never the blocking. Tt was that quitting cost me nothing. So I built the thing I actually needed: a blocker you can't quit instantly. Turn on Focus Mode and YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels and the TikTok feed disappear. Want out? There's a cooldown you set in advance 15, 30 or 60 seconds and you have to sit through it. It's a small amount of friction, but it's enough for the urge to pass. Shroudify started as something else, honestly. It was a kitchen-sink productivity extension: sticky notes, a site blocker, clipboard history, a calculator. Useful, but nothing special. It took me embarrassingly long to notice that the cooldown was the only part nobody else had, and that everything else was supporting cast. Rebuilding the whole pitch around one idea was the hardest part of this launch. The other thing I won't compromise on: there are no servers. No account, no analytics, no network requests at all. Your notes and stats live in local browser storage and nowhere else. It's free. Curious to hear from anyone else who's disabled their own blocker, how long did yours last?
