Shqip
Learn Albanian — the language (7M+) Duolingo doesn’t support
Shqip is an AI-powered language learning app for the 7M+ Albanian speakers Duolingo, Babbel, and Mondly don't support. Built by a solo dev who needed it for his fiancée's grandmother. Free vocabulary, paid AI conversation scenarios with 7-day trial.
I built Shqip because no major language app supports Albanian — a language with 7M+ native speakers across Albania, Kosovo, and the diaspora.
The story: my fiancée is half-Albanian, her grandmother lives in Korçë and speaks zero French (I'm French). Two years of trying to learn from broken volunteer courses and grammar PDFs made me build my own tool.
What's in Shqip:
- 800+ words organized by real-life themes (family, food, work, travel)
- Conjugation drills + daily streak system
- Unlimited AI conversation with Sam, who plays scenarios (coffee in Tirana, meeting in-laws, job interview, marriage proposal)
- AI mnemonic generator for hard-to-remember words
Stack: PWA + Vanilla JS + Supabase + Claude API + Stripe.
Pricing: Free tier (vocabulary + conjugations) + Shqip+ at $5/mo or $39/yr with a 7-day free trial.
Currently: French & English → Albanian. German support coming soon if there's interest.
Roast welcome, especially from:
- Native Albanian speakers (any pronunciation / cultural issue?)
- Anyone learning a "minority" language (what's missing?)

Shqip was hunted by Anthony Riosanto. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
