Previously, listings from the 50+ venues outside the West End could only be found on the theatres' own individual sites. Hey Product Hunt!
I'm Emma, co-founder of Showtime.
We started Showtime after too many hours spent looking for listings information in separate corners of the internet, knowing that it could be collated in one place.
The independent theatre scene in London is thriving, with thousands of productions happening year on year. But it is 90% powered by overworked, underfunded institutions and passionate, worn-out freelancers. And much of the working knowledge of the industry sits inside people's heads, rather than anywhere online. Launching a cross-theatre technology initiative could take years.
So, we built Showtime on spec, drawing on our combined experience of the London theatre landscape, and full-lifecycle product development. To amass our data, we experimented with agents, crawlers, third-party packages. But the bespoke nature of theatre listings - exact timings, exact URL formats, different fetch approaches, etc - drew us eventually to a Claude Code-powered codebase.
We soft-launched Showtime earlier in the year, making it available to select industry test users - and now it is ready to meet the world!
