Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm Vikram, and I run shortText.com...a site some of you may actually remember, because the first version shipped back around 2005. I've brought it back, rebuilt from scratch.
The idea is the same as it ever was: you have a short piece of writing...a note, a poem, an essay, a snippet and you just want a clean link to share it. No account. No dashboard. No "sign up to continue." You paste, you get a short URL, you're done.
What's new in this version:
- No signup, ever — paste and share in two clicks
- Public, unlisted, or password-protected visibility
- Markdown + syntax highlighting for code
- Optional expiry and burn-after-read for things that shouldn't live forever
- Editable after posting, via a private edit link
I kept the original 2009 brand red and tried to make the whole thing feel calm. The textarea is the entire product.
Would genuinely love your feedback on the writing/reading experience. What would make this your default place to drop a quick link?
And in case you're wondering "isn't this just Pastebin?", Pastebin makes your words look like a server log. shortText makes them look like something worth reading. Same mechanic, built for writing people actually read, not code dumps (although we render code also beautifully).

Who hunted shortText?
shortText was hunted by Vikram Singh. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
