Shipshape lets you craft beautiful, meaningful dashboards based off nothing more than your Vercel deployment data. Deployment velocity isn't a vanity metric: it's one of the original four DORA pillars and a common trait of high-performing teams and platforms.
Hi again PH! 👋
I've always wanted to be able to proudly share in visual form how often the SaaS products I've shipped this year are updated after launch: that is, how often I've been iterating on them and pushing code to production. Not only is "Deployment Frequency" one of the original four key DORA metrics (https://cloud.google.com/blog/pr...), it's also a clear outward signal to whoever might be interested that your product is alive, well, well-maintained and well-supported. And from that itch, shipshape was born: beautiful, completely customisable deployment dashboards.
So, who are these people who 'might' be interested in this information?
* Your customers: the world of SaaS doesn't stand still, and showing both prospective and existing customers that you iterate, maintain and support your product is a huge confidence boost in the product
* Hiring candidates: ambitious developers will want to join a company which doesn't just talk best practice, but actually lives it. Public deployment dashboards are a great indicator of a company which does just that, and does so transparently
* Colleagues: whether as a bit of lighthearted internal competition or simply as a way to show off those shipping wins, deployment velocity matters just as much internally as it does externally
* Employers: if you're looking for a job and they're looking for someone who actually gets things done and sees their ideas through, Shipshape is the perfect way to prove it
By way of a couple of examples:
https://www.shipshape.dev/@stron... - the combined stats for everything I've been working on and maintaining for the last six months
https://www.shipshape.dev/@ships... - the stats *just* for shipshape itself (I know, very meta - but dogfooding the product was a great way to build it!)
And, if you can make the time for it, a quick walkthrough building a simple dashboard from end to end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NeJq_32TQ4
Shipshape is very much an MVP at the moment but it's one I'm immensely proud of. The main focus going forwards is to add a slew of new components and make the editing experience slicker and more intuitive. Right now, the only data source is Vercel, so if you're not using them shipshape won't interest you (if you're screaming for another provider - let me know!). To reflect this early stage and to celebrate launching on PH, all paid plans are 20% off for three months - this discount is on top of the prices you see on the site and automatically applied at checkout. There's no obligation to pay though, as the free plan entitles you to one free dashboard to try things out.
It's very early days for Shipshape, so I'm immensely grateful for any support and feedback, good or bad.
Thanks as always,
Nick
This looks amazing once again.
Will try it out once I'm getting something out through vercel (although currently I'm a big fan of Cloudflare Pages 😄)
I can't keep up with your launches Nick! So much value created and always at such high quality! Good luck 👏🤩
Shipshape is the veritable North Star for anyone navigating the tumultuous seas of web deployment. It's like having a sleek, high-tech compass that not only points you in the right direction but gets you there at warp speed. This tool is the very definition of 'shipshape,' making the once daunting task of Vercel deployment a breeze. Its stunning, user-friendly interface is a beacon of beauty in the developer's toolkit, ensuring your projects not only sail smoothly but look gorgeous while doing so. Shipshape: where functionality meets aesthetics, setting a new standard for deployment dashboards. It's a shipload of awesomeness!
Awesome job, Nick! Very clean UI and interesting use case! Is there anything we can improve about Tremor?
what a beautiful UI! Congrats on the launch! As an avid Vercel user myself, I can't wait to try it
Kudos on Shipshape! Crafting meaningful dashboards from Vercel deployment data sounds incredibly valuable. How does Shipshape make deployment velocity insights actionable for teams and platforms?
