I'm Merline, and I built ShipBackHome because I grew up in my
parents' container shipping business.
Here's a world most people don't know exists: millions of
families in the U.S. pack barrels full of food, clothing,
and supplies and ship them to family in Jamaica, Ghana,
Haiti, Nigeria, Trinidad, and beyond. They do this through
independent shippers — small operators running their
businesses out of warehouses in Miami, Brooklyn, Houston,
and Atlanta.
These shippers manage everything through WhatsApp threads
and notebooks. Bookings are scattered across hundreds of
messages. Payments are tracked on paper. Invoices are
handwritten. New customers only find them through
word-of-mouth.
I built ShipBackHome to fix that.
What it does today:
