I built Shellway because I kept running into the same problem: I wanted Claude and ChatGPT to actually do things on my computer or server — run a script, check logs, restart a service — not just talk about code. Existing tools for this either cost a lot per seat or needed clunky manual SSH tunnel setup every time.
So Shellway is a relay: install a lightweight agent on your machine, sign in with Google, and your AI tool (Claude.ai, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor) gets secure MCP access to that machine — with OAuth 2.1 under the hood.
A few things I cared about:
- Read-only mode — AI can see files without changing anything
- Multi-device hub — manage several computers from one account
- Free tier that's actually usable — 1 computer, 5,000 actions a month, no credit card

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Sandeep, a solo maker from Rajasthan, India.
I built Shellway because I wanted to run my own server and laptop from ChatGPT or Claude on my phone, without opening ports or setting up a VPN.
How it works: you install a small agent with one command (npx shellway pair YOUR-CODE, needs Node.js 22+). It makes an outbound connection to the relay, and your AI app can then read, write and edit files, search by name or content, run commands and manage background programs on that computer. There are 20 tools in total.
You stay in control: start the agent with --readonly and your AI can only read, search and list. You can remove a computer from the dashboard at any time.
Honest notes: it is tested most on Linux, Mac and Windows lightly, and it is not open source. There is a free plan.
