Hi Product Hunt!

I'm Shivya, founder of ShadeTwin app. I spent 6+ years building shade-finding tools at L'Oréal that I scaled across 8 brands across 32 countries, and one problem never went away for our online sales channel: shoppers can't trust if a makeup shade will actually match you in real life.

A HEX code swatch looks different on each screen. "light medium, neutral undertone" is too broad. So people do the thing every brand hates - they leave the product page, open TikTok or YouTube, and hunt for someone with their skin tone wearing that exact shade. We call it the tab-out problem.

Across Reddit, TikTok, and YouTube, a recognizable pattern has emerged within beauty communities: people share the foundation shades and ask others to help identify their "shade twins" - individuals with matching skin whose recommendations they can trust. It has become a ritual of its own.

The instinct is sound, but the process is laborious. Finding a true match means scrolling through threads, cross-referencing shade names, and hoping that someone with your exact complexion happened to post.

We turned the viral shade-twin trend into an automated solution - Shadetwin.app.

Two ways to use it:

1. If you're shopping: find your shade twins and see the verdict before you spend the money.
2. If you're a brand: add our widget to your product page so shoppers get the answer right there.

It's early, and I'd really love your honest take, whether the matches feel right, and what you'd want next. Happy to talk beauty data, the creator-video pipeline, or building a B2C+B2B product.

Thank you for your support!
