Finding a setting on macOS shouldn't require remembering where Apple put it. SetSpot gives System Settings its own Spotlight. Press ⌥ Space, describe what you want in plain English, and SetSpot takes you directly to the right setting. SetSpot understands both exact setting names and natural-language descriptions of what you're trying to do. It is fast, keyboard-first and works locally on your Mac. No accounts. No cloud search. No AI API calls.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built SetSpot because I kept having the same ridiculous experience on my Mac:
I knew exactly what I wanted to change, but had no idea what Apple called the setting or where they had moved it.
Want to stop Spotify launching at startup?
Is that under Apps? General? Users? Login Items?
Want to let OBS capture your screen?
Privacy? Displays? Sharing?
macOS already has Spotlight for finding files and apps, so I wanted the same experience for settings.
With SetSpot you press ⌥ Space and simply type:
stop spotify opening when mac starts
or
allow obs to record my screen
and SetSpot finds the relevant setting and takes you there.
Search works locally and is designed to understand normal language rather than requiring Apple's exact terminology.
I also added Favorites for settings you return to often.
This is the first release, so I'd especially love to hear about queries that don't return what you'd expect. My goal is to make finding a Mac setting feel essentially instant.
Thanks for checking out SetSpot ❤️
