Setnote
Minimalist workout tracker for progressive overload
Setnote is a minimalist iOS workout tracker that shows you the exact numbers you need to beat your last session, no more, no less. Log a set easily and see your progress.
I've tried several workout trackers over the years and, for my goals, found most of them to be distracting and complicated. I finally decided to build one I would stick with. After getting some compliments and requests, I decided to roll it out to share it with others.
Who and what Setnote is for:
Setnote isn't tailored for the professional lifter or person who has a major interest in exercise science. There are already some great apps for this community and I respect them.
Setnote is for the community of lifters I find to be more invisible: regular, intermediate gym goers. Not beginners who need programs built for them, but also not professional bodybuilders who know all of the language and keep up with the science.
This app is for those in-between. The people who've been at it for a while, feel comfortable around the gym and know their program, but still struggle to make progress in any discernible way due to lack of reasonable tracking methods. People like me. We fall into maintenance mode for years even though, deep down, we'd prefer something more.
This person is someone who lifts and stays healthy to support their other priorities in life, like taking care of their family, pursuing career goals, and travel. Since exercise science falls second priority to us, we need progress to be simple, straightforward, and easy to track.
For that, Setnote is designed to do exactly what's needed to support our progress and otherwise, get out of the way. The UI is simple and clean. There are no distracting or complicated bells and whistles. Logging is effortless, and you see your progress as soon as you save with the stats that answer one question: "did I take a small step to get stronger today".
Because the more days you answer that question "yes", the more progress you'll see over the long run.
That's it. That's Setnote.
Right now we're looking for beta users to help make Setnote as clean and functional as possible before we go full release. You're welcome to join at the beta link listed in the post above.
I look forward to hearing your feedback and I hope you all enjoy.
