The problem that started this: I had a sleep score in one app, a training plan in another, and macros in a third. Every one of them was confident. None of them knew about the other two. So the plan would tell me to hit a heavy squat day on four hours of sleep and have no idea anything was wrong.
The scoring model has been the hard part, and it's where most of the rewrites went. The one that keeps biting is missing data: if someone forgets to log a meal, is that a zero or an unknown? Score it as a zero and you punish people for the gaps in their own tracking, which teaches them to log garbage instead of nothing. Getting that distinction right mattered more than any of the modeling.
