So I built SendFileOnline mostly out of frustration. Every time I needed to send a file to a client, I'd hit the same wall — make an account, verify your email, click through some bloated dashboard. I just wanted to send the dang file.
That's the whole idea here: file sharing without the hoops. It's browser-based, dead simple, and somehow we're now up to 30,000+ people using it. Felt like it was finally time to bring it to the PH crowd.
A few things I'm kind of proud of:
6-digit codes — Upload a file, you get a code, the other person types it in and downloads. That's it. Honestly perfect for screen shares or "just send it to me real quick" moments.
Actual P2P transfers — Using WebRTC, files can go straight from one browser to another. They never touch my servers at all, which I think is pretty neat.
Pricing that isn't annoying — Free tier needs zero email. If you want Pro (100GB limits, custom expiry, view-once mode, analytics) it's $4.99/mo, which is roughly a third of what WeTransfer charges.
For the curious about the stack — Next.js on Vercel edge, with uploads routed to whichever AWS region (US, EU, Asia) is closest to you. Faster transfers, and it keeps things GDPR-friendly.
