Check a domain's security.txt (RFC 9116) and ads.txt in one call. It fetches /.well-known/security.txt (legacy /security.txt as fallback) and /ads.txt, validates syntax, required Contact and Expires fields, expiry, Content-Type and soft-404 pages, and parses ads.txt records. You get coded issues with error, warning or info severity plus a summary, as JSON. Syntax checks only: no sellers.json cross-check or PGP verification.
Hi everyone, this is the security.txt & ads.txt Checker API.
It validates a domain's security.txt (RFC 9116) and ads.txt in one JSON call, from CI or a script. Security teams, vendor-risk reviewers and bug bounty programs can use it to monitor security.txt policy files; ads.txt is checked in the same call for ad-ops audits.
Endpoint: GET /v1/check?domain=example.com (add fresh=1 to bypass the 6-hour cache).
security.txt: existence (well-known path, legacy fallback), syntax, required Contact and Expires, expiry and date validity, Content-Type and charset, soft-404 HTML detection, and signature block shape.
ads.txt: record and variable parsing, DIRECT/RESELLER counts, duplicates, and invalid lines with reasons.
Every finding is a coded issue with error, warning or info severity, plus a per-domain summary.
Examples measured on 2026-10-13: cloudflare.com has a security.txt without the required Expires field (missing_expires), and nytimes.com has a malformed line plus 30 DIRECT ads.txt records.
Limits: this checks syntax and structure only. It does not cross-check sellers.json, verify PGP signatures, or test that a Contact address is reachable. ads.txt is fetched for the exact host you enter. Private-network targets are rejected.
