Scripture Alone
A free, open-source Bible with no ads, trackers or accounts
Scripture Alone is a free, open-source (AGPL-3.0) Bible for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. Read the ASV, BSB and KJV offline with full-text search and the words of Christ in red. Highlight, favorite and take notes on several passages at once, or snap a sermon slide to start one. Listen aloud, study with cross-references and classic commentary, and follow each chapter on an offline map and timeline. No ads, trackers or accounts; sync is your own iCloud.
Hi Product Hunt! I'm Blaine, and I built Scripture Alone on my own.
I wanted a Bible app that does one thing well: put the text in front of me with nothing in the way. Scripture Alone has no ads, no trackers and no accounts, and your highlights and notes sync only through your own private iCloud. I never see them.
What's in it:
• The ASV, BSB and KJV, offline, with full-text search and the words of Christ in red. The ASV is there from install; the other two download once, the first time you pick them.
• Notes that span several passages, exported as PDF, Markdown or text. Photograph a sermon slide and on-device text recognition starts the note for you.
• Study mode: ranked cross-references plus commentary from Calvin, Gill and Jamieson-Fausset-Brown, and an offline map, timeline and charts for every chapter.
• Listen with your device's voices (or Mi Speaks Studio voices if you subscribe to that app), verse images and share links, widgets, and a standalone Apple Watch app with its own Bibles.
• A Keepsake Bible: one file of your highlights and notes that your family can open and read as you marked it.
It's free, with no in-app purchases or subscriptions, and it will stay that way. The whole thing is open source under the AGPL-3.0, so you can read exactly what it does. On a Mac it runs as the iPad app on Apple silicon.
What translation or study tool would you want next? I'm working on licenses for modern translations, and I'd like to hear what matters to you.
