Years ago, a classmate noticed me struggling to juggle multiple windows. He introduced me to SnappyApp, a game-changer that kept screenshots pinned above everything else. Little did I know, this would spark a productivity revolution. I thanked him. His name was Salem, and we became good friends. Fast forward to OSX 11, and disaster struck. SnappyApp stopped working, and their support team was nowhere to be found. The community scrambled to find a replacement. Then, out of the blue, ScreenHint appeared—open-source software that just worked. It kept my screenshots visible over all my other windows. I could once again keep my design references on screen while writing code, so I wouldn’t have to keep switching windows to remember what I was doing. We all breathed a sigh of relief. Years passed, and one day, out of curiosity, I clicked "About ScreenHint." To my surprise, I saw "Copyright 2021 Salem Hilal." It was my friend Salem again! We reconnected, and I thanked him for giving the world this incredible tool, for free. I've saved countless hours with ScreenHint, and I hope you will too.

Comment highlights

I came across this tool while browsing some tech forums and I gotta say I'm not sure it has much use for me, feels like an unnecessary clutter on the screen, have you considered adding more customization options or maybe integrating it with some popular project management tools so it doesn't just hover around?

Kudo for this good productivity tool, I need this for my day to day workflow as I juggle many references while working. This is open source also, I will definitely contribute to it in the nearest future.

Do you foresee a future where you could have "dynamic screenshots"? Like, for instance, a shared Google Doc that is ever-changing but you wanted to keep an eye on a particular portion.

Hey, cool idea but isn't it kinda distracting to have something floating over your screen all the time, like what about a feature that lets you hide or minimize the snapshots when you need a break, also how much control do you have over the size and where it sits, just thinking it could get annoying if it's in the way often

So I've been trying out your new tool, it's interesting but I'm not sure it's the most efficient way to handle multitasking, seems more like a band-aid rather than a solution 🤔, have you considered adding a way to categorize or group the snapshots, maybe even implement some kind of quick-access toolbar to manage them better Richard

This tool seems really useful for organizing and referencing information visually. It would be great if there were an option to sync these notes across devices or add reminders to them.

I like how this tool lets you create floating notes right on your screen. It’s a practical way to keep track of tasks and reminders.

Really appreciate the open source nature of this tool. its geat to see such a practical solution available for free

The ability to have screenshots hovering over all windows is a neat feature. It should definitely help streamline my work process.

The idea of keeping screenshots visible over other windows is brilliant. cannot wait to see how it improves my work flow
