Screen Time: Challenge Buddy takes a different approach to screen time: instead of relying on app blockers and willpower, it adds real accountability. Pair with a Buddy, share live screen-time, compete, chat and keep each other accountable. You can also take on Challenges: voluntary financial stakes at $0 upfront cost, with a penalty only if you break your limit. The idea is simple: make screen-time limits harder to ignore because someone else can see them and you have real money at stake.

Hey Product Hunter! 👋 I’m the maker behind Screen Time: Challenge Buddy.

I built this because I kept seeing the same frustrating cycle: set a screen-time limit → hit the limit → tap “ignore” → feel guilty → repeat.

Most app blockers can tell you that you’re over your limit, but they still leave you completely in control of whether that limit matters. I wanted to try a different approach.

Screen Time: Challenge Buddy uses Real Human Accountability and Financial Stakes to deal with this issue. You invite your Buddy, see each other’s screen time in real time, compete, chat, and keep each other honest. For people who want stronger commitment, you can also try Challenges: set a voluntary stake where you set a mandate on your card but pay nothing upfront and only face a penalty if you break your screen time limit.

The goal isn’t to build another app that tells you to use your phone less: It’s to make your commitment actually mean something.

This is an early launch, so I’d genuinely love your feedback, especially on the Accountability model, Challenge structure, and what would make you trust a tool like this.

iOS development is still in progress, you can join the waitlist for the same here.

Thanks for checking it out! 🙌
