Explore high-quality commercial open source tools (proprietary SaaS alternatives) on Scoutflo Atlas - for free. Get a quick trial of OSS products, and deploy them on your own cloud within minutes! 💙
For a while people have been asking if opensource softwares were secure, reliable or worth trusting. Just look at the success of tools like Airbyte , PostHog or Rowy , all viable open source solutions.
There are now many open source alternatives and it could be hard to navigate them, and find the one that works for you.
This is what Scoutflo is offering.
Scoutflo is on a mission to increase the awareness and adoption of open-source software products.
I’m Vedant, a co-founder at Scoutflo. I’ve been in the Product space for 4 years, and have also handled Sales for popular SaaS solutions – leading to a deep understanding of a buyer’s journey.
Today we're launching Scoutflo Atlas - A marketplace for commercial open-source software [COSS] products.
Commercial open source software combines the flexibility of open source software with the reliability of proprietary software.
We started working on this idea due to 3 key problem statements:
1. Open source products have a strikingly low adoption rate.
2. Proprietary SaaS products are expensive and have vendor lock-ins.
3. Onboarding and maintaining an OSS tool is usually not a hassle-free experience.
We talked to different stakeholders in the open-source space to learn about their challenges.
We narrowed down that many OSS Products, despite their quality and competence – do not get the kind of reach, visibility and distribution they deserve. And most businesses are not aware of dependable OSS tools they can include in their tech stack.
Our 1st step towards solving this is today’s launch - Scoutflo Atlas, with 200+ COSS alternatives to proprietary SaaS tools.
With Scoutflo Atlas, we want to:
- Create a centralized place to find high-quality open source products
- Make open source products more discoverable
- Significantly reduce SaaS spend by switching to managed self-hosted solutions
You’re at the right place if you are a:
- Commercial Open Source Company
- Business exploring Open Source
- Open Source Enthusiast (Maintainer/Contributor)
As a Business:
- Create your OSS product stack as per your budget, use case, etc.
- Eliminate complicated steps and simplify onboarding of OSS tools.
- Easily try out a tool even before self-hosting (sandbox version).
As an OSS Founder:
- Monetize the self-hosted version.
- Exponentially increase active users.
- Manage and maintain your product content with a dedicated CMS.
We also want to help non-developers (without DevOps or cloud experience) to try out and experience open source products.
Psst… We’re also launching early access of
Scoutflo Sandbox - To get a quick, free trial of selected open source products.
Scoutflo Deploy (Beta) - A frictionless onboarding tool to self-host open-source products on your own cloud.
While the world has just started to realize the unbounded potential of open source technology – Scoutflo wants to make it mainstream.
We’re starting with creating a frictionless experience for discovering, onboarding, and maintaining open source products 🚀

What's the process to get a product listed on Scoutflo Atlas?
I am glad to share that I got a beta access to use ScoutFlo, I was truly amazed and impressed. The platform offers a wealth of detailed information and invaluable comparisons for promoting open source tools. It's a fantastic resource, especially for businesses in search of the right tools for their needs. The user experience on ScoutFlo is excellent overall, making it a breeze to navigate and find the information you're looking for. I highly appreciate the platform's dedication to providing alternative options and thorough comparisons. It's a game-changer for anyone seeking to make informed decisions about selecting tools for their business.
Really Cool!! This will not only spread the word about good open-source products but also help improve their adoption.
The website is something an hour of need and surely does what it promises and much more! A refreshing view and saving hours of time just looking for "the" open source projects.
Kudos to the team, for your hardwork! It's beautiful. @vedant4510. 😁
It is cool to have a marketplace for OSS softwares. It is great to have and will be most helpful. Congratulations on your launch
Thrilled to be listed on Scoutflo Atlas already, thanks to the makers. This can become the friendly G2 of COSS and I look forward to participating on the platform.
This is a great work put in. A true community work. Kudos! Good luck ahead. It will definitely add more visibility to oss projects.
Looking to contribute and collaborate with the community.
Amazing tool, just checked out the Atlas platform and the design is very user friendly and easy to understand. Great work on UI/UX.
The platform looks great, you guys have curated some great open source alternatives to SaaS. But there are a lot of more open source tools out there. What is your evaluation criteria?
Great product! I would like to know what kind of open source products are you listing?
Congrats on the launch, I love bringing more visibility to open source and especially the new breed of well designed and refined products 🚀
I'm a simple man—I see open source, and I upvote.
Seriously though, love this initiative. I actually have a public directory of what I call CookieSlayers (cookieslayers.com), which are companies, products, and services that respect user privacy. All of them are open source (as of this writing). They're not all commercial products, but many are. We can probably discover a few more to add to both Scoutflo and CookieSlayers.
On a separate but related note, thanks for including Baserow 🙌
Baserow is super enterprise-ready for those who are unable to use Airtable. With Baserow, you can self-host and be in compliance with your legal/compliance teams for storing sensitive data, build plugins or apps on top of Baserow, and have unlimited storage limits.
Be on the lookout for Documenso (DocuSign alternative) from @eltimuro and Webstudio (Webflow alternative) from @oleg008 👀
Here's to open source 🍻

Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
