Stop uploading the same papers and explaining the same project to every AI tool. SciNest lets you add papers, notes, drafts, feedback and data once, then use the shared project context to create academic writing, scientific figures and presentations. Every output stays editable, reusable and connected to the next task—not trapped in another chat. It runs local-first and works with your own AI key, so you can choose the models you trust.

Hi Product Hunt — I’m Margaret, the maker of SciNest. I’m a psychological counselor, not someone who originally planned to build research software. SciNest started from a frustration I kept running into in my own work. Whenever I needed to research a topic, write a report, organize supporting materials, create a figure, or turn everything into a presentation, I ended up jumping between several AI tools. One tool could read the papers. Another could help with the writing. Another made slides or images. But none of them remembered the whole project. I kept uploading the same sources, repeating the same background, copying answers between platforms, and repairing inconsistencies in the final result. When the writing changed, the figures and slides no longer matched. That made me realize the real problem wasn’t that AI lacked intelligence. The problem was broken project continuity. So I built SciNest around one idea: add your project materials once, then keep using the same context throughout the work. Papers, notes, drafts, feedback, and data stay together in one local-first project. From there, you can create academic writing, scientific figures, and presentations without explaining the research from scratch each time. The outputs remain editable and reusable, so writing can become the basis of a presentation, and a figure can be refined and reused in the slides. The easiest shorthand is that SciNest is a local-first, production-focused research notebook: not only for understanding sources, but for turning them into editable deliverables. It also works with your own AI key, so you can choose the models you prefer instead of being locked into one provider. SciNest began as a scientific figure tool. It gradually became a connected workspace when I realized that a figure is rarely the final task—there is usually a report, paper, revision, or presentation around it. I’d especially value feedback on the project workflow, onboarding, and which connection matters most to you: sources to writing, writing to figures, or research to presentation.
