My first car rental was in Bremen. Afterwards, the rental company said I’d damaged the car. I knew I hadn’t, but I hadn’t taken any pickup photos, so I had nothing to show what condition it was in when I got it. After a lot of back and forth, I refused to pay for damage I hadn’t caused.
That experience led me to build SceneSeal.
It gives you a shot list at pickup. At return, you can see the earlier photo while taking the matching view. The paid export puts the inspections into a PDF, with the original files alongside it.
Camera and an album are a perfectly reasonable option too. What I wanted was a little help remembering the shots and finding the matching ones later. No app can recover a photo you never took, or guarantee a rental company will drop a charge.
Capture and organisation are free. Export is €4.99 for one rental, including re-exports, or €39.99 for lifetime unlimited exports; local prices may differ. There’s no subscription or account, and SceneSeal doesn’t upload your photos. Single-rental credits stay on the device and aren’t restored after deleting the app; lifetime access can be restored.
