Hey Product Hunt! 👋 Melvin here, founder of Scape.

As a founder, I’ve always felt overwhelmed by my inbox. In 2024, I was spending hours in Gmail, copy-pasting emails into ChatGPT. I wanted an inbox that could do more of that work without having to ask.

So I assembled a team and spent 18 months in a small office in Stockholm building Scape with early users. We’ve obsessed over reliability, speed, design, and making it feel great to use. We even deleted Slack for our team to exclusively communicate over email, to make sure we love using our own product.

During this time, it felt like a new AI email tool launched every week. Yet, to this day, most new users we talk to are using Gmail just as before. Models have become incredibly intelligent, yet email remains so manual.

Scape is designed to organize your inbox automatically, and prepare replies using context from your emails, meetings and files, in a Mac app.

Since we launched our invite-only Preview Release two months ago, thousands of people have started using Scape, including founders and teams at some of the world’s fastest-growing companies. Most of them stop going into Gmail entirely.

Today, we want to bring that experience to more people.

Introducing our free plan

Comment highlights

This looks so clean! Well done Melvin and team! Are you planning more integrations so I can connect it other contexts like GitHub repos or databases?

what I'd want is one view of threads where the ball is on my side, without the ones I already answered. can Scape tell "waiting on me" from "waiting on them"?

The local meeting recording without a bot is the part I keep coming back to. If the recording stays local, how do the suggested replies and follow-ups use that meeting context — does the transcript stay on the device too, or does it get summarized elsewhere first? And with custom labels syncing to Gmail, what happens if I relabel something in Gmail afterward?

I started using Scape about 2 months ago, and haven't looked back since. On day 1, I was able to categorize and autolabel 20k emails across my work and personal inboxes, and mark read many thousands more that was clogging up my inboxes. Thanks to Scape, no more email anxiety! I'm now ahead of emails, versus drowning in them. Thanks to Melvin and the Scape team for such a powerful and useful tool.

damn, finally an app that looks as good/better than Superhuman?! I'm switching.

Scape definitely has best in class style! Any plans to add MCP? MCP could be added to the native app build. So would work for existing users out of the box, and easily installed in codex / claude without much friction. There is just something really cool to let codex and claude having access to email. Be it for "slow drip mass outreach" (I just invented that word 💀) or for agentic email checking, occasionally needed when doing agentic things. :D

Hey Product Hunt!

I’m Moritz, founding engineer at Scape.

Melvin covered why we built Scape, so I wanted to share some product decisions we made to make Scape feel proactive and effortless.

  • Proactive by default. We believe deeply in building the interface where the real work happens. This meant building an architecture that runs agent flows the moment you receive an email so drafts and meeting follow-ups are just waiting for your approval to be sent.

  • Speed and small details that compound. To be the fastest email client in the world we made Scape local-first, which meant building our own sync engine from the ground up. This makes interactions instant and has the nice side effect of being able to use the app offline.

  • A local native meeting recorder. We wanted to support recording any call, from Zoom meetings to FaceTime calls. What started as a simple idea required four full rewrites from scratch. For the final solution, we tuned our own echo cancellation model in C++, with help from the Google Meet founding team who, as it turns out, are based just a few hundred meters away from us in Stockholm.

Most of all, we care about craft in every part of the product.

Ask us anything about how we built Scape. I’m happy to answer anything!

Congrats on launch team! Insanely powerful product when you get started, can't stop using it!

I've been using Scape for a while now, switched from Spark. I really like it and can't wait for you to further develop the app. Well done guys! 🎉

Drafts that already know about the meeting I just had are the part I would trust most, because context from the calendar is where every other AI email draft quietly gets it wrong.

Moved to Scape a few months ago and not going back. It's fast, and all the small things just work really well. I live in my email, and feedback given to the team here is incorporated in the product in days or even hours. I'm rooting hard for this team.

Resurfacing an unanswered email is useful when the context comes back with it. I'd want to see the last promise and attachment right there before following up.
