When building software, inference is now a must-have, but getting it affordably and without self-hosting is difficult, but getting inference with datacenter level failover whilst still being affordable is much harder. There is a huge volume of under-utilized compute all around us, individuals, companies, and cloud providers, all with spare compute and a need to earn. We built a platform that makes use of compute from almost any machine around the world, and compensates the provider with payments from paying developer customers who need that reliable open model inference but at a more affordable rate. We've built around the philosophy of keeping inference affordable but reliable, and we want you to come on board as a developer or provider, and start building with powerful open models!

Comment highlights

Inference is becoming the newest utility bill for companies and builders, but most customers only get two bad options.

They can either pay frontier lab prices, or rent raw GPUs and become their own inference ops team.

GPU owners have idle hardware and no safe or simple way to earn from it, marketplaces often involve unspecified workloads that aren't standardized or trustworthy, compute owners do not want to run these unusual workloads or trust the system behind them.

Scalattice is the obvious move, in a time when datacentres are facing substantial criticism, making use of the compute all around us, is a more appropriate solution than ever before. Giving people the power to earn from their hardware, and builders access to intelligence as an affordable necessity.

Put simply, the missing product is managed production inference on distributed capacity, where developers get an OpenAI-compatible API with affordable rates, output vetting, regional policy, and security tiers. Providers earn from inference-only jobs through an open source agent and keep a majority share of compute spend. That two-sided network is hard, but it works, and is serving live customers, with many live provider machines.
