Scalarcut; Tile Layout Planner
Millimetre tile layout planner with cut lists & sliver guard
Unlike basic flooring apps, ScalarCut is a professional CAD engine for real-world tiling. Build a 3D digital twin of your room, including architectural openings like doors, windows, and garage pits. Our algorithm automatically re-calculates precise cuts and waste near every opening. Generate an automated BOM with exact adhesive and grout volumes based on tile thickness and line mapping. Features include Sliver Guard to prevent weak edges and Cut Recycling to slash material waste.
I’m Anas. I tile, and I write software. I got tired of mobile apps that gave me a pattern and a square-metre guess. No cut list I could actually cut from. No adhesive. No grout. Just “add 10%” and hope.
The web tools had the same hole. A wall is not a rectangle. A lot of them still won’t let you put a door or a window on it. The ones that do often don’t recalculate: they don’t deduct the opening, they don’t recut around the jamb, they leave a blank in a pretty grid. I over-ordered expensive tile more times than I want to admit, and still ran out of bags.
On site you also reuse a decent offcut on the next row. Most calculators throw that piece in the bin on paper. That’s how the waste number lies.
So I wrote the CAD kernel myself. You drop an opening, the net area and the cut list move with it. Leftovers that still fit get mapped forward. If an edge strip would snap under 50 mm, the engine tries to shift the start; if it can’t, it flags it instead of hiding it. It’s on the web, Android, and now the App Store.
If you install: How are the herringbone calculations working for your specific projects?
