Every parent eventually hits the same moment. Your kid brings home math homework, you know the answer, but the worksheet wants it done with “number bonds” or an “area model.” You show them the way you learned it, and they say, “That’s not how my teacher does it.” [I kept hearing this from parents around me / I lived this myself.] The problem isn’t that parents can’t do the math. It’s that school methods have changed, and nobody explained them to parents. So I started writing plain-English guides to the methods, one at a time. -- Parents want to help, but they’re afraid of making it worse. If you teach a different method at the kitchen table, your child gets confused and the teacher has to undo it. Same Method explains how a topic is taught now, in about a minute. Each guide has one picture, a plain-English explanation, what to say (and what not to say) at homework time, and a free practice sheet with an answer key. It started with math and grew to almost 200 methods: math from K through Algebra 1 and Geometry, plus reading, writing, study skills, social studies and science. So whether it’s sound boxes, RACES, Cornell notes or slide and divide, there’s a guide. -- It started as an idea for an AI homework helper. I dropped it for two reasons. Running costs would have forced a subscription, and I didn’t want a tool that just hands kids answers. Parents don’t need a solver. They need to understand the method so they can coach. So I went simpler: static guides, fast pages, free to use. Then I followed what parents asked for next. Math led to reading, reading led to writing, and so on. Along the way I added a method finder (type a word from the worksheet or paste the instructions), a glossary of homework words, a free share link for teachers to send families their unit’s guides, and a Spanish pilot of the K–8 math guides.
