Safex
Browser-native wallet for private decentralized commerce
Safex is a privacy-focused proof-of-work blockchain with a browser-native self-custody wallet and decentralized commerce protocol. The wallet implements CryptoNote-derived transaction primitives in JavaScript and uses SuperSync to restore and synchronize wallets efficiently without requiring a desktop app or local node. Create, restore, send SFX, monitor transactions, and interact with Safex directly from the browser.
I started working on what became Safex in 2014 with the idea that cryptocurrency could support actual decentralized commerce rather than only transfers and speculation.
Over the years that became its own proof of work blockchain, two native assets, and a marketplace protocol. The part I have been focused on most recently is making the entire wallet experience practical in a web browser.
That involved porting the necessary CryptoNote derived transaction primitives into JavaScript and solving one of the harder UX problems with privacy-oriented chains: wallet synchronization. A wallet cannot simply ask a server for an account balance; it has to identify the outputs that belong to it.
I built SuperSync to make restoration and historical synchronization much faster while keeping ownership detection on the wallet side.
Today you can create or restore a Safex wallet directly at safex.org, synchronize it, view history and mempool activity, and send SFX without installing desktop software.
I also set up a starter faucet for anyone who wants to actually test the wallet:

And here is a short demonstration:

The next major step is bringing the Safex marketplace protocol fully into this browser experience; listings, purchases, seller accounts, feedback, proofs, product media, and buyer/seller messaging.
I’d especially appreciate feedback on the wallet UX, synchronization approach, and how understandable the system is to someone seeing Safex for the first time.
