The idea for RUPA AI came to me about a year ago, sparked by a Reddit post. Someone wanted to recreate the handwriting of a deceased relative—a beloved family member who had left behind a treasure trove of handwritten recipes, each stroke full of warmth and personality. But when they searched for a way to digitize that handwriting, they hit a wall. The only viable option was to commission a custom font, which came with sky‑high fees and long turnaround times.
At that moment, I thought: why can’t AI do this? I was working as a product manager in AIGC (AI‑generated content and personalization), but my daily focus was on images and videos—fonts were completely outside my comfort zone. Still, the problem wouldn’t leave my mind.
I shared the idea with John, an incredibly talented algorithm engineer, and we started tinkering. Night by night, we built the first few prototypes, and every small breakthrough made us more certain that this could actually help real people.
So we leaped. We quit our jobs and went all‑in on RUPA AI.
