Hey Product Hunt, I'm Nick, a dad of two in West Kelowna, BC, and the maker of RoostPay. In Canada, the moment you hire a nanny or caregiver you become an employer. That means CPP, EI and income tax off every paycheque, remittances to the CRA, a pay stub every pay period, provincial rules for overtime, stat holidays and vacation pay, and T4s at the end of the year. Most families find this out after they've hired someone. We started out with an au pair and later hired a full-time nanny. We're a shift-worker household, so the hours were all over the place, and being a bit of a data nerd, I built a spreadsheet. Keeping it compliant with CRA rules and provincial employment standards cost me countless hours every pay run, and I kept wishing there was a simple app for it. So I built one. What it does: Works out CPP, EI and income tax for each pay period and tells you exactly what to remit and when Sends a pay stub straight to your caregiver's app every payday Shared schedule with clock-in, plus sick days, vacation and overtime tracked to your province's rules Employment contract and TD1 forms your caregiver signs on their phone Prepares T4 slips and the T4 Summary for you to submit, and builds an ROE file if employment ends Today is our official launch, on iPhone, Android and the web. One plan, unlimited employees, free 30-day trial, cancel anytime. I'd love feedback, especially from anyone who has done household payroll by hand. What would have made it easier?
